My love for horses began at age 3 in Zimbabwe and has led to a full time career in thoroughbreds.
Experienced. Trustworthy. Passionate.
I was born in Zimbabwe and was always around horses from an early age - I started riding at the age of 3 (see photo above). Some of my earliest memories are of going to Borrowdale Racecourse in Harare. I loved looking at the horses in the paddock before the race. We moved to California in 1989 and Ienjoyed following racing by reading the sports section of the newspaper every morning in the pre-internet era.
After doing a summer internship in 1999 at Lane’s End Farm, I moved to Kentucky after universitry in 2002 and began working as a researcher and writer for Thoroughbred Times before moving on to Taylor Made Sales, Hill 'n' Dale Farm and then joining Select Sales as a startup in 2009, a perennial top ten consignor from 2009-2020.
Among the top horses sold by Select Sales over the years included Hall of Famer Tepin and dozens of graded stakes winners such as No Parole, Vyjack, Spellbound, Intense Holiday, etc
After being involved on the selling end of thousands of horses at public sales for 17 years, I officially transitioned to full time independent bloodstock work under Cary Bloodstock in January of 2020.
Since launching my own independent agency in 2020, my clients have achieved remarkable success in a short amount of time. Notable accomplishments include the purchase of stakes-winning racehorses Destino d’Oro (G2), Chop Chop (G3/G1pl), Chopsticks, Star Moment, Patton’s Tizzy, etc as well as purchasing the dams and/or planning the matings for No Parole (G1), Touchuponastar (G2), Margie’s Intention (G2w/G1pl), Tumbarumba (G3w/G1pl), Little Miss Curlin (SW), Allnight Moonlight (SW), Cosmic Train (SW), Stilettos (SW), etc.
Outside of Work.
I am blessed to be married to my wife Matia, an incredibly brilliant, smart, creative, and curious woman who has brought a totally different world perspective to my way of viewing things. We met when sitting next to each other on a flight to Lexington back in 2013 and it was truly love at first sight. We are blessed to be the parents of two amazing little boys, Lars (5) and Tate (2) and doggie parents to Ella, a naughty, energetic Portuguese Water Dog. In addition to my wife, I have an incredible network of family and friends constantly supporting me inclusive of my mom, brothers, and in-laws. I really am incredibly lucky.
Outside of work, I love sports of all kinds- you name it and I probably follow it. I also love history and reading books. I was a history major in college (business minor) and can’t seem to ever learn enough.
I love to travel and experience new cultures. And food. And wine. And beer. I pretty much enjoy anything that is new and interesting or tastes delicious. My mother is an avid traveler and history teacher so she instilled a lot of my love of discovery and knowledge.
